Byron Powell Supportive Services was founded on that simple belief — and it still guides everything we do.

Today’s families are stretched thinner than ever. Parents are working longer hours to provide for their households, while technology has quietly replaced many of the face-to-face interactions that once came naturally.
The result is a generation of children and youth facing more loneliness, social anxiety, low self-esteem, and behavioural challenges — often without a positive mentor to turn to. At the same time, many seniors are facing social isolation, the loss of loved ones, and a world that’s becoming harder to navigate on their own.
Our purpose is to bridge these gaps. We provide compassionate, person-centred support that strengthens relationships, builds confidence, and empowers people to live more connected, fulfilling lives.
Every plan starts with understanding the person — their strengths, culture, and goals — before anything else.
Real progress happens inside real relationships, not generic programs.
Emotional, social, physical, and environmental well-being — considered together, not in isolation.

Honouring each person’s voice and choices.
"Changing lives through human connection."
To build stronger individuals, families, and communities by creating meaningful human connections that inspire hope, resilience, and lifelong growth.

Byron Powell is a Registered Social Worker with a Bachelor of Social Work and more than seven years of experience supporting individuals through addiction, mental health challenges, trauma, homelessness, behavioural concerns, and other complex life situations.
Throughout his career, Byron has worked across a wide range of community and social service settings, supporting people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. His experience includes frontline support, leadership, crisis intervention, case management, housing navigation, addiction recovery, trauma-informed care, and behavioural support.
Byron has held frontline and leadership roles with organizations including The Salvation Army and The Mustard Seed, where he supported individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, complex mental health concerns, and barriers to stable housing. In these roles, he provided crisis intervention, developed individualized support plans, connected clients with treatment and community resources, and led multidisciplinary teams focused on helping people move toward long-term stability.
He has also supported women and families affected by domestic violence through the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society, provided social-emotional and behavioural support to students as a School-Based Wellness Coach, and worked with adults living with acquired brain injuries, developmental disabilities, and physical disabilities as a Disability Support Worker with REDI Enterprises.
These experiences have given Byron a deep understanding that every person’s journey is different. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach, he takes the time to understand each client’s strengths, goals, culture, and circumstances before developing a support plan that fits their unique needs.
At the core of Byron’s practice is a simple belief: trust comes before change. Meaningful progress happens through genuine relationships built on respect, empathy, and consistency. His goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to move forward with confidence.
